---- — The weather outside on Saturday wasn't particularly conducive to riding bicycles, but inside the YMCA, it was perfect for the 480 riders who pedaled their way to a good cause during the second annual Pedal Past Poverty.
Last year, 39 teams managed to pedal their way to raising nearly $65,000 for Partners for Affordable Housing.
This year, 48 teams from the area collected pledges to raise funds for the organization that operates the Welcome Inn and Theresa House homeless shelters.
Team members ranging from youngsters to 90-year-olds each rode stationary bikes for a 20-minute stint.
Top prizes went to winning teams and random drawings were held for door prizes throughout the event.
But when the last wheels stopped spinning, the biggest winners were the homeless.
