Local traffic causing safety concerns on 14

Access for Nicollet County 6 to be completed soon

MANKATO — Local motorists trying to shorten their trip to the new stretch of Highway 14 near North Mankato are creating unsafe driving conditions on Highway 14.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has asked State Patrol to increase patrol in the area. It is illegal for motorists to drive through the median to access Highway 14 and it is dangerous --- as Highway 14 traffic

is not expecting motorists to go around the barriers and cannot see vehicles entering.

Traffic from Nicollet County Road 6 should use Nicollet County Road 77 to access Highway 14 until the roundabout at Nicollet County Road 41 is completed in November.

The Highway 14 four-lane expansion and new interchange with County Road 41 will be complete by the end of the 2013 construction season.
