WASECA — A 43-year-old Oakdale man died in a crash near Waseca after a high-speed police chase spanning three southern Minnesota counties early Friday.
Authorities identified the man as a homicide suspect over scanner traffic as they coordinated the pursuit, according to the Albert Lea Tribune.
The name of the man has not been released, pending notification of family, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The chase started about 3:30 a.m. in Austin and ended a half hour later when the car rolled on on Highway 13 in Waseca County. The driver, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died, State Patrol spokesman Lt. Eric Roeske told the newspaper.
The man was driving a 2001 Saab 93. Five agencies, including three area sheriff's departments assisted in the pursuit.
