MANKATO — A Lake Crystal man will serve about three years in prison for raping two girls last fall.
William Marcus Daniel Edwards, 22, was sentenced to 60 months in prison Monday, but, with good behavior and credit for time served, Edwards could be released after about 35 months.
He also will be required to register as a predatory offender for the rest of his life.
Edwards was arrested after police learned he had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl on Oct. 15 at a playground near his apartment in Lake Crystal and a 12-year-old girl on Nov. 13 at his apartment. He pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sexual conduct Jan. 29.
"I've worked hard most of my life to hve a good name and I messed that up," Edwards told District Court Judge Bradley Walker. "When I get out, I'm going to work on my good name again."
