MANKATO — The Mankato Clinic will break ground this spring on a new health center that will focus on children's care.
The new facility -- a 56,000-square foot building just south of the clinic's existing Wickersham Health Campus clinic -- will not only house the pediatrics department but also a Mankato location for Gillette's Children's Specialty Healthcare and Pediatric Therapy Services. The clinic expects to break ground in late May or early June and hopes to open by summer 2014.
According to a Mankato Clinic statement, this new partnership with Gillette's, which is based out of St. Paul, will bring services not previously available in Mankato. The statement did not specify what those services are.
"The facility will be designed specifically for children and adolescents including kid-friendly waiting areas, exam rooms and an outdoor courtyard," the statement said.
The new facility's lower level will house some of the Mankato Clinic’s support services such as IT, health information and business office services.
