NEW ULM — A 19-year-old New Ulm man is in jail after police say he assaulted a woman then barricaded himself in his house with a shotgun.

Police got a call from the victim at about 11:30 a.m. stating that Erick Alade Fredrick Bunce had assaulted her and was last seen in the house.

Law enforcement repeatedly attempted to contact Bunce, who barricaded himself inside the home, at 17599 225th Street, a few miles west of New Ulm.

At about 4 p.m., Bunce surrendered and was arrested without incident. He was unhurt, but was brought to the New Ulm Medical Center as a precaution. He was then brought and booked into the Brown County Jail.
