MSU names new provost

MANKATO — Marilyn J. Wells has been named the new provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Minnesota State University, effective July 22.

Wells is the vice provost and graduate dean at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, a position she has held since 2008.

Most recently, her role has included serving as the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education liaison for strategic initiatives. Wells has led and served on the Office of the Chancellor’s Academic Program Review Committee recommending more than 50 new program proposals submitted by the 14 system universities.

Wells’ numerous major accomplishments at East Stroudsburg include steering the development, approval and implementation of seven new academic programs during the past four years.

Wells replaces Scott Olson, who served as MSU’s provost and vice president for academic and student affairs from May 2003 until being named president at Winona State University last year.
