Dakota Middle School student places 14th in geography bee

ST. CLOUD — A Dakota Meadows Middle School student placed 14th in the state’s National Geographic Geography Bee on Friday in St. Cloud.

Kevin Krahmer, an eighth-grader, was one of 100 semi-finalists in the preliminary round. Krahmer then advanced to the tie-breaker round to compete for a Top 10 spot. He correctly answered questions through five rounds before being eliminated.

The winner of the bee was Alexander Conrad of Valley View Middle School in Edina. The seventh-grader, who finished third in the state last year, will compete at the national bee in May in Washington, D.C..
