Fire destroys rural Kasota home

KASOTA — No one was injured in a fire that destroyed a rural Kasota home Thursday night.

Le Sueur County Sheriff's Department responded to a call about 9:16 p.m. reporting a structure fire at the Dale and Michelle Kaisersatt residence, 44398 Hillside Court, about two miles northeast of Kasota.

When firefighters arrived, they observed flames at the chimney and attic area of the single-family residence and a large amount of smoke was coming from its roof.

All its occupants were uninjured and able to get out of the home safely.

Kasota Fire Department began efforts to extinguish fire and requested mutual aid from the Cleveland, St. Peter, Le Center, and Le Sueur fire departments, Rivers Edge Ambulance Service, Le Sueur County Highway Department, South Central Minnesota Rehab Team and North Mankato Air Truck.

Kasota Fire returned to the site Friday to extinguish reignited debris.

This dwelling, valued at $182,500, is considered a total loss. The Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office said fire originated in the chimney of the home, which used a wood-burning stove.
