Well-wishers line motorcade route

By Pat Christman

---- — Residents in south-central Minnesota paid their respects to a Waseca Marine killed in Afghanistan during a procession Saturday along old Highway 14 between Owatonna and Waseca Saturday.

Marine Lance Cpl. Caleb Erickson died Feb. 28 from injuries he received in an attack by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan. His body was flown Tuesday to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware and arrived at Owatonna's Degner Regional Airport Saturday afternoon. From there it was taken by motorcade to Waseca. Well-wishers lined the route with American flags and signs of appreciation.

A visitation for Erickson has been scheduled for 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services, which are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.

Gov. Mark Dayton ordered all federal and state flags be flown at half-staff Monday.
