Inmate accused of triggering jail fire system

MANKATO — An inmate in the Blue Earth County Jail awaiting trial for domestic assault charges is now facing new charges for allegedly damaging a fire sprinkler in his cell — twice.

A felony criminal damage to property charge was filed Wednesday against Terrance Lamarr Wadley, 22, of Mankato. He is accused of standing on a toilet in his cell and using a pencil to damage the sprinkler. He's also charged with two misdemeanor counts of tampering with a fire system.

A guard reported Wadley broke the sprinkler March 10 and again on March 11. The sprinkler was triggered and sprayed water in the cell at least once, the complaint said. The estimated damage is more than $1,300.
