ALBERT LEA — Freeborn County and the union representing the Freeborn County sheriff deputies settled their arbitration process last month in favor of the lower wage increases sought by the county.
The agreement ordered by the Bureau of Mediation Services arbitrator calls for a 1.75 percent wage increase for 2013 and a 2 percent increase for 2014, slightly below the requested 2 percent and 2.5 percent increases sought by the union.
For the annual allowance, which provides funds to deputies for costs like replacing uniforms, the union sought to increase the allowance from $750 to $800. The agreement calls for no increase sought by the county.
Finally, for the shift differential, which deals with pay for regularly scheduled hours at night, the union sought to increase the additional pay to $0.60 per hour to $0.85 per hour for 2013 and 2014. Again, the agreement calls for no change requested by the county.
