Sex offender turns himself in

Staff Writer

A level three predatory sex offender who cut off his ankle monitor Monday turned himself in to authorities early Thursday morning.

George D. McIntosh Jr. surrendered at 4 a.m. to Le Sueur County jail authorities where he is now incarcerated.

McIntosh had been released from prison on Aug. 30 after serving time for two third-degree criminal sexual conduct convictions. He and another man were arrested in July 2007 after two girls under the age of 16 reported McIntosh had provided them with alcohol and had sexual contact with them.

He cut his ankle bracelet in Faribault.

Most level three predatory offenders who become fugitives are quickly taken back into custody. Department of Corrections statistics through September 2011 show that 97 percent of fugitive level three offenders are apprehended within 72 hours.
