Waseca native injured in Afghanistan

---- — WASECA — A 27-year-old Waseca native who is a U.S. Army ranger was injured by an improvised explosive device during an incident in southern Afghanistan Sunday.

Tom Block is alert and responsive, his family was told by his nurse at the hospital in Ramstein in Germany, where his injuries are being treated.

His parents are Jeff and Jody Block of Cleveland and Ruth Ann and Tim Collins of Waseca.

Tom Block had been a member of the Mavericks wrestling team when he was a student at Minnesota State University.
