Marshall was arrested when he returned to the room. Investigators reported finding $595 in cash in his wallet, including a $20 bill that had been marked and used for the drug buy with the informant.
Stamps that investigators suspect were laced with LSD, a shoe box containing baked goods that possibly contained marijuana and a suspected drug ledger also were confiscated from Marshall's room.
He was charged Thursday with one count of third-degree drug sales and one count of fifth-degree drug possession. His bail was set at $2,000 with several conditions, including that he stay away from the MSU campus.
