New public works director named

MANKATO — Mary Fralish is the new Mankato director of public works.

Fralish will report to City Manager Patrick Hentges and oversee water, wastewater, parks and landscaping, transit, regional airport, street maintenance, infrastructure and refuse services.

Fralish has a bachelor's degree in biology. She is certified by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency as a class A Minnesota wastewater treatment facility operator and also has a type IV waste disposal facility certificate.

She most recently served as deputy director of Environmental Services.

Fralish replaces Mark Knoff who took a position elsewhere.
