LAKE WASHINGTON — The rescued driver of a car that broke through ice on Lake Washington Thursday afternoon has been identified as Robert Drengler, 68, of Mankato.
Drengler was rescued by fishermen and others after his car broke through and became partially submerged in shallow water on a part of the lake known as the narrows.
Drengler managed to get out of the vehicle and stand on its roof until help arrived. A first responder from the Cleveland Fire Department donned a rescue suit to bring Drengler to safety.
Le Sueur County authorities said he was taken to the Mankato hospital and treated for a hypothermic condition.
