MANKATO — A Mankato man with a history of fleeing from police was arrested again early Wednesday morning after a short vehicle and foot chase.
A police officer on patrol recognized the vehicle and started the chase after confirming 36-year-old Jeramie Jason Ites was driving, said Cmdr. Dan Schisel of the Mankato Department of Public Safety. The officer knew Ites had warrants for his arrest from the Department of Corrections and Nicollet County.
Ites, who was spotted in the 1500 block of Second Avenue, allegedly drove for about a block, got out of his vehicle and ran after the officer started the pursuit. He was arrested without incident after a short foot chase. Charges of fifth-degree drug possession, first-degree driving while intoxicated, fleeing in a motor vehicle, fleeing on foot and driving after revocation are being requested.
Ites was sentenced to a year in prison in November 2012 after violating his probation for 2011 conviction for fleeing police. In that case Ites crashed a stolen Grand Prix into a steel post at the intersection of May Street and Riverfront Drive at about 2 a.m. while fleeing from an officer.
An early morning chase in December 2008 also resulted in a prison sentence for Ites. In that incident Ites crashed into a snowbank near the intersection of North Riverfront Drive and Lafayette Road. Officers found methamphetamine in Ites' possession in both the 2008 and 2011 incidents.
