MANKATO — Clerks at two Mankato liquor stores were cited last week during a Department of Public Safety compliance check that targeted 21 businesses, including bars and restaurants.
Underage people working with police were sent into the businesses on Oct. 17 and told to attempt to buy alcohol with their own identification cards. They were able to buy alcohol at Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits on Adams Street and Stadium Spirits on Warren Street, said Det. Cmdr. Debbie McDermott.
The two clerks who sold the alcohol are facing gross misdeanor charges for selling to an underage person.
