MANKATO — Police officers responding to a fight at a party reported at about 11:30 p.m. Friday ended up arresting five suspects for assaulting an officer and obstructing justice.
"A couple officers were assaulted, but there were no injuries to the officers or the suspects," Cmdr. Sandi Schnorenberg said Monday. "We don't often arrest five people at once."
A security officer at the Jacob Heights apartment complex called 911 to report people were fighting at a party at 517 Joseph Path. When officers arrived and attempted to stop the fight, they were attacked, Schnorenberg said.
The people arrested for assaulting the officers were Saud Qahtan, 22, of Mankato and Jenine Shanaa, 22, unknown address.
Two other people — Addullah Alamari, 21, of Mankato and Abdullah Alanazi, 22, address unknown — were arrested for obstructing justice with force, disorderly conduct and disruptive intoxication.
Benjamin Jacobs, 21, unknown residence, was the fifth person arrested. He had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and is facing a charge of obstruction of justice for the Friday night incident.
