---- — AMBOY — A 45-year-old man was arrested following a chase after he drove his vehicle into a river and fled on foot late Saturday night.

Robert R. Schultz is in the Blue Earth County Jail awaiting charges, including fleeing police. Police believe he is from the Minnesota Lake area.

According to the Amboy Police, an officer tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation when the driver fled on Country 30 and then south onto County 7. The vehicle was driving through some public hunting land just west of Winnebago when it crashed into the Blue Earth River.

Police say Schultz fled on foot but was soon caught by a Fairmont Police dog. Police said he was arrested without incident and no weapons or drugs were found on him or in the vehicle. They say he did not indicate why he allegedly fled.

Several departments were involved in the pursuit and arrest, including from Faribault and Blue Earth counties, Fairmont, Lake Crystal, Mapleton and Winnebago.
