Veterans Day ceremonies planned

Military veterans will be honored Monday during ceremonies at various memorial sites in Mankato and North Mankato and by several area businesses.

Members of veterans posts and auxiliaries and area veterans groups will participate in ceremonies Monday as scheduled:

9 a.m. — Veterans Memorial Place; 10 a.m. — World War II Memorial, Wheeler Park; 11 a.m. — World War I Memorial, Sibley Park; 12:10 p.m. — Vietnam Memorial, Stolzman Road.

American Legion Post 11 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 950 will serve a chicken dinner 5-8 p.m. Monday. The meal is free for all members with paid dues. Donations are requested from non-members who attend.

Some local businesses will be recognizing veterans by serving them complimentary meals. Applebee's restaurant in Mankato will serve complimentary meals to veterans and people in active service on Monday. Hy-Vee Food Stores in Mankato will serve veterans free breakfasts Monday. Free flags along with free breakfasts will be given to veterans who stop by Monday at the Huntington Hills rental office at 744 James Ave. Veterans will be served a free rib/chicken meal between 1-7 p.m. at Jerry Dutler’s Bowl/Rumor’s Lounge, 1247 Range St.
