Science camps lead to Summer Sleuthing

Kids figuring out how to have fun

NORTH MANKATO — When it comes to summer activities, some kids have it all figured out.

Or they are spending a few days trying anyway.

This year South Central College is hosting a three-day “CSI” camp (like the TV crime shows) that focuses on solving “crimes” by using science.

Pre-teens and teens have chemistry, biology, computer-integrated machining and other academic tools at their disposal to work on figuring out a few mysteries.

The camp finishes up today on the North Mankato campus.

Both South Central College and Minnesota State University typically offer academic camps during the summer to school-age kids.

Camps already completed at MSU have focused on robotics and math.

Another SCC camp that starts this week is focusing on building a musical instrument.

Next week a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) camp for girls will be offered at SCC.
