MSU student arrested for knife assault on campus

MANKATO — Mankato police arrested a 19-year-old MSU student for allegedly assaulting another student with a knife in a library bathroom Wednesday evening.


Kevin Joseph Renquist of Mankato is in jail and facing charges of second degree assault, terroristic threats and other possible charges.


Police say Renquist allegedly grabbed another student from behind while holding a knife. The victim defended himself and was able to escape.


When police arrived at 7:15 p.m. they found Renquist being detained by several students and he was arrested without incident.


The victim was transported by ambulance to the Mankato hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Department of Public Safetyat 507-387-8780.
