MANKATO — A Delray, W. Va., man was arrested Friday for allegedly assaulting a Mankato police officer.
Travis Eades, 34, was originally taken into custody for pulling a fire alarm while rooming at Riverside Suites, according to the criminal complaint. Hotel staff told police that Eades had been screaming at guests and stating he had forgotten to take his medications.
When police arrested Eades, he said he was "a saint" and kissed the number 33 on the squad car, claiming religious reasons. He underwent an evaluation at the hospital before being released back into police custody.
Eades allegedly became angry and accused an officer of lying when he was informed he was being taken to Blue Earth County Jail. He allegedly threatened the officer before charging and kicking the officer in the groin.
Eades was charged Monday with felony fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, two felony counts of fifth-degree assault and misdemeanor tampering with a fire alarm system.
