MANKATO — A 22-year-old North Mankato woman was arrested after she allegedly used a cab driver's cellphone to falsely report she had been kidnapped.
Virginia Denise Homesly was arrested at her home at about 10:06 p.m. Sunday, a Mankato Department of Public Safety report said. She was in a cab when she took the driver's cellphone and made a call where she claimed she had been kidnapped, the report said.
Homesly also allegedly told the driver she had a gun and asked him to stop near the intersection of Highway 14 and North Victory Drive. Once the cab driver stopped, Homesly got out and left in a vehicle that she flagged down. The initial police report does not say how police identified her.
