Starbucks coming back to Madison Ave.

Crossroads Center to get a makeover, add two shops

Tailwind also received Planning Commission approval for a $500,000 face-lift to the aging Crossroads strip mall. Along with giving Crossroads a new look and Mankato a new Starbucks, the project will bring an end to the city-owned marquee sign advertising civic center events. The city council approved putting the sign in front of Crossroads in 1994, and Tailwind will be responsible for reimbursing the city for the depreciated cost of the electronic billboard.

The 2009 closure of the two Mankato Starbucks didn't leave fans of the chain completely stranded. Starbucks coffee counters continued in the Barnes and Noble and Hilltop Hy-Vee stores, although neither has a drive-through and neither offer the full Starbucks food menu.
