Nibbe murder case to be featured on cable program

The Free Press

— The Oxygen cable network will feature the case of Jennifer Nibbe, the Lake Crystal woman who admitted murdering her husband in 2011.

The show will air at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Oxygen describes the episode: “Minnesota-native Jennifer Nibbe, a young wife and mother, claims an intruder killed her husband. However, her story comes into question once investigators discover the couple's secret lives behind closed doors.”

The show will be on the series called “Snapped,” which shows true-life crimes.

The network says women are responsible for only about 7 percent of the 16,000 murders in the United States each year. The show has profiled dozens of those murders since it started in 2004.

A film crew traveled to Mankato last year to interview law enforcement officers who investigated the Aug. 31, 2011, murder of James Nibbe, 26, in rural Lake Crystal.

Nibbe, 35, pleaded guilty last June to shooting her husband in the back of the head while he slept and attempting to blame the murder on an intruder. She was sentenced to 17 years in prison with another 5.5 years of supervised release.
