Three rural bars broken into

The Free Press

— Deputies are asking for the public’s help investigating the burglary of three bars Thursday morning.

Burglary alarms were triggered at the three bars between about 4:15 a.m. and about 5:30 a.m. Thursday, a Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Department report said. Deputies weren’t sure Thursday afternoon what, if anything, was taken.

The first alarm, at the D Bar on 169 in Vernon Center, was reported by a neighbor. Law enforcement officers responding to the alarm do not believe the burglar or burglars got into the building.

About 15 minutes later, at 4:34 a.m., another burglary alarm was triggered at the Thunder Bar in Good Thunder. The glass door had been broken and someone apparently attempted to take charitable gambling money.

The Mapleton Municipal Liquor Store’s alarm was triggered at about 5:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s Department report said. A door had been forced open and, again, charitable gambling money was apparently the target.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department and the cities’ police departments have leads, but are asking anyone with information to call the Sheriff’s Department at 507-304-4807.
