DFLer leading in Sen. Parry's old district in Waseca

Senate 24

(45 of 51 precincts)

Vicki Jensen, DFL-Owatonna, a member of Owatonna School Board, was leading Vern Swedin, R-Owatonna, by 52 percent to 48 percent. Jensen had 16,667 votes while Swedin tallied 15,337 votes.

The Senate 24 seat was left open after Sen. Mike Parry, R-Waseca, chose to run for Congress. The district stretches from Waseca to Owatonna.

 

Senate 20

(32 of 46 precincts)

In the open Senate 20 race, former Sen. Kevin Dahle, DFL-Northfield, was leading  Mike Dudley, R-Northfield, a retired FBI agent, by 51 percent to 49 percent. Dahle had 11,637 votes while Dudley, a teacher, had 11,042 votes.    

The district goes from Le Sueur east to Northfield and up to Jordan and Prior Lake.

 

Senate 16

(122 of 154 precincts)

Incumbent Sen. Gary Dahms, R-Redwood Falls, was leading Ted Suss, DFL-Wabasso, by 54 percent to 46 percent.

Dahms, a Redwood County commissioner and insurance agency owner had 18,214 votes, while Suss, a longtime educator and superintendent of Wabasso public schools, had 15,596 votes.

The district includes Brown County and stretches up to Redwood Falls.

 

Senate 18

(13 of 85 precincts)

Incumbent Sen. Scott Newman, R-Hutchinson, was leading Steven Shiroo, DFL-Cokato, by 55 percent to 45 percent. Newman had 3,270 votes while Shiroo had 2,643 votes.

The district includes Sibley County and up to the Hutchinson area.

 

Senate 19

(46 of 54 precincts)

Sen. Kathy Sheran, DFL-Mankato, had no opponent. She received 26,189 votes or 98 percent of the vote Tuesday.

The district includes Mankato and Nicollet County.

 

Senate 23

(127 of 145 precincts)

Incumbent Sen. Julie Rosen, R-Fairmont, was leading Paul Marquardt, DFL-rural Eagle Lake, by 64 percent to 36 percent. Rosen had 22,924 votes to Marquardt’s 12,781 votes. Rosen gained widespread attention last session for being the chief author of the successful Vikings stadium bill.

The district stretches from the Iowa boarder  to south of Mankato and east to near Waseca and north past Janesville.
