Loyola president named

MANKATO — Rev. Robert Schneider has been appointed to a three-year term as part-time president of Loyola Catholic School beginning July 1.

The appointment from Bishop John Quinn, which came at the request of the Loyola Catholic School Trustees, is in addition to Schneider's parish responsibilities and role as chaplain of Loyola.

The interim president and high school principal is Shelley Schultz, who will be retiring. Announced earlier this spring, Sam Cotton, principal at St. Felix Elementary in Wabasha, will be taking over as high school principal at Loyola in August.

Schneider was ordained in 1978 and has served as the priest for parishes throughout southern Minnesota, including the two parishes where he serves: All Saints Church in Madison Lake and Immaculate Conception Church in St. Clair.

In addition to his work with parishes, he taught at Pacelli and Loyola High Schools.

In July  1982, he was assigned to be principal of Loyola High School, a position he maintained for six years.
