MnDOT gets Mankato 'roundabout ready'

Hwy 22 project breaks ground

MANKATO — Community members and city officials gathered at Snell Motors midday Monday to learn all about the Highway 22 construction project.

The project's groundbreaking preceded the presentation by Bryan Ficek, consultant and project manager, and other Minnesota Department of Transportation officials.

Multi-lane roundabouts are being constructed at the Highway 22 intersections at Madison Avenue and Adams Street. There will also be some roadway reconstruction on Madison and Adams between Sioux Road and Haefner Drive.

Along Highway 22 between Adams and North Victory Drive, MnDOT will be repairing concrete; and there will be improvements to sidewalks and pedestrian trail access to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The project is expected to last into the fall and will include lane closures and detours.
