MANKATO — A community notification meeting has been scheduled for a Level 3 predatory offender who is planning to move into a residence in the 1900 block of South Riverfront Drive.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Verizon Wireless Center. Mal Pauliet Tharjiath is scheduled to be released from the prison in Stillwater on Sept. 9.
Tharjiath was arrested in September after he broke into an occupied apartment in the 1800 block of Monks Avenue on Sept. 8. Women inside the apartment called 911 to report the burglary. One of the women, who knew Tharjiath, reported she was sexually touched over her clothing by Tharjiath before police arrived.
He was sentenced to a year in prison after admitting to assaulting a police officer during his arrest and assaulting a guard at the jail.
In March 2011 Tharjiath was arrested on the Bethany Lutheran College campus after someone called 911 to report he was intoxicated and threatening to shoot someone. He also had to be stunned by police officers in June 2011 after he ran from them. The officers were responding to a report that he was harassing a woman at a Hoffman Road tanning business.
