Sleepy Eye man dies in skidloader accident

SLEEPY EYE — A 77-year-old rural Sleepy Eye man died Thursday from burns he suffered in a skidloader accident on his property northwest of Cobden.

Donald George Richert had been working with a skidloader near a burn pit about 4 p.m. when he apparently got off the machine, Brown County sheriff's deputies said. The skidloader moved forward and pinned Richert's left leg under the front end. His body was extensively burned when he was became trapped in the burn pit, deputies said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene

Two Clements volunteer firefighters who had been working in the area discovered the incident.
