Street sweeper driver in Sept. 5 crash dies

A St. Peter businessman hospitalized after the street sweeper he was driving was struck by a semi near Lake Crystal a week ago died Thursday afternoon at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, according to a family member.

Thomas Cody, 53, was driving the street sweeper, owned by St. Peter-based contractor Cody and Sons, on Highway 60 when it was struck by a Peterbilt semi at about 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 5.

A memorial service will be held at Lake Emily near St. Peter in coming weeks with details still being finalized.
