---- — Two elementary students were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after being hit by an SUV as they crossed the street.

Allan Lara, 10, and Valeria Garcia, 8, were traveling east on Main Street toward Kennedy Elementary School at about 7:50 a.m. They were crossing Manitou Drive, one on foot and one on a bicycle, when they were hit by a 1998 Chevy Tahoe driven by 71-year-old Mary Lee Burt, Mankato police said.

Burt was traveling south Manitou Drive and had stopped at the Main Street intersection. She was turning east on to Main Street when she hit the children, police said.

Garcia was in fair condition at the Mankato hospital Thursday afternoon. Lara was not admitted to the hospital.
