MANKATO — Mankato residents may dispose of unwanted items from 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays in May at 221 Lamm St. during the city’s annual Spring Cleanup.
Televisions, computers and other electronics will be accepted.
Items not accepted include concrete, asphalt, tires, appliances, recyclable material and hazardous waste.
New this year, Mankato residents can also drop off unwanted prescription and non-prescription medications at Spring Cleanup.
During the cleanup, there are two options to dispose of appliances: to schedule a curbside appliance pick up, contact Green Tech at 344-1315. The cost is $15 per appliance; or, drop off up to five household appliances at Green Tech, 205 West Spring St., at a special rate of $7 per appliance for Mankato residents (paid at drop off; a driver’s license, identification card or utility bill with a Mankato address is required).
Appliance recycling extends beyond Spring Cleanup and is available year-round for Mankato residents.
Green Tech also will accept up to 300 pounds of household electronics per Mankato household at no additional cost.
Although compost is not accepted during the cleanup, compost may be brought to the Southern Minnesota Construction compost site, 3600 Third Ave., at no cost for Mankato residents (a driver’s license, identification card or utility bill with a Mankato address is required).
