Driver crashes while trying to catch pet ferret

ARLINGTON — An attempt to catch a pet ferret that escaped while being transported in a vehicle caused the driver to lose control of the automobile, which then crashed into a sign Friday about five miles south of Arlington.

Dalton Kuehl, 21, of New Auburn was accompanied by his ferret in a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am when the animal escaped its cage.

Kuehl was not injured when the northbound car entered into a ditch on the west side of Sibley County Road 17 near its intersection with 280th Street, then struck a sign

Sibley County deputies said the car’s front end was slightly damaged and the ferret was captured.
