Lt. Col Mark Weber, 41, of Rosemount, author and former aide to General Petraeus, died Thursday.
"Tell My Sons" is the book form of letters Weber wrote to his sons after his terminal diagnosis of intestine cancer.
Weber presented a lecture at his alma mater, Minnesota State University in January.
After graduating from MSU with honors in 1994, he went on to an Army career that included multiple deployments, one of which was in Iraq working on the personal staff of Gen. David Petraeus in 2005-06.
His story is scheduled to be featured in Parade Magazine this Sunday, Father's Day. A story by staff writer Amanda Dyslin was published in The Free Press Jan. 30.
