Mankato police seeking information about muggings

MANKATO — On the 200 block of Hickory Street at 2:30 a.m. Sunday a 23-year-old woman was walking home and knocked on the door where she thought people she knew lived. However, it was the wrong house.

As she was walking away, a black female reportedly assaulted her while others took items from her purse, according to Makato police.. Stolen items include a wallet, credit cards and white, gold-colored band with diamonds (worth about $1,000).

The victim, who was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries to her face, told police there were several other people in the area when she was assaulted. Anyone with information is being asked to call police.

On the 500 block of North Riverfront Drive at 2:40 a.m. Monday a 20-year-old male was confronted by an black male. The suspect assaulted the victim and took his wallet, according to the policereport.

The victim searched the area, found his wallet and discovered $2 was missing.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s with short hair. He has an average height and weight. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police remind to always walk in groups in well-lit areas and report suspicious activity.
