St. Peter Decathlon team wins state championship

ST PETER — St. Peter High School Decathletes are state champions.

Six Minnesota high school teams competed in the Academic Decathlon State Competition at Oak Ridge Hotel & Conference Center in Chaska Sunday and Monday.

State championship honors went to the St. Peter High School Blue Team, and they will represent Minnesota at the United States Academic Decathlon National Competition in Minneapolis April 25-27.

Second place went to Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Secondary School. They will vie for a wild card spot and the opportunity to be the second team to represent Minnesota at the national competition. (Wild card teams are chosen based on state submissions and will be selected based on team scores.)

At the state event, students received scores for speech, interview and Super Quiz Relay. The essay test and other objective tests were completed online earlier in February.
