---- — MANKATO — Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for Trampled by Turtles' March 26 concert in Mankato.

Trampled by Turtles is the national bluegrass sensation that formed in Duluth and boasts Mankato native Dave Simonett as lead vocalist. Trampled by Turtles last visited Mankato in 2012 as part of the concert series at Riverfront Park.

The March concert will be 8 p.m. in the Verizon Wireless Center Ballroom.

From the concert press release: "With six albums to their credit and a word-of-mouth reputation that draws legions of diehard fans to their must-see-to-believe live shows, Minnesota roots music hybrid Trampled by Turtles have released their first live concert recording, 'Live At First Avenue.'"

That album was recorded in April 2013 during a string of three consecutive sold-out shows at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Those shows represented the concluding end of the band's touring cycle for its acclaimed album "Stars and Satellites."

In his review of the First Avenue concerts, Star Tribune music critic Chris Riemenschneider wrote: "Who would have predicted a decade ago that a rootsy, bluegrass-flavored band from northern Minnesota would headline Minneapolis’ legendary rock venue — much less sell out a three-night stand (and play the Letterman show, to boot). Even in the current era, though, with folk-flavored acoustic strummers such as Mumford & Sons and the Lumineers topping the charts, TBT is a bit of an anomaly with its raw, punky energy and especially its rapid-fire musical virtuosity, all on full display."

Trampled by Turtles is comprised of Simonett (guitar, vocals), Tim Saxhaug (bass, vocals), Dave Carroll (banjo, vocals), Erik Berry (mandolin) and Ryan Young (fiddle, vocals).

Tickets are available at JadePresents.com, the Verizon Wireless Center Ballroom Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone at 800-745-3000. All $25 tickets are general admission (additional fees may apply).
