NORTH MANKATO — South Central College has named Susan Tarnowski as the new vice president of student and academic affairs.
Tarnowski will be responsible for all academic and student services, including program creation and review, faculty development, academic planning, accreditation, research and various other services that contribute to student success. She begins her new position Feb. 3.
Tarnowski has 35 years of experience in higher education, with the past 18 years in administration. Her background includes serving as vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty for the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth (2001-2004); vice president for educational services at Anoka Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids (2004-2007); and dean of academic affairs for The Art Institutes International Minnesota in Minneapolis (2007-2014).
Tarnowski received her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Minnesota.
“I am truly excited to join the campuses of South Central College under the leadership of Dr. Parker,” said Tarnowski of SCC President Annette Parker in a news release. “We are able to build on the history and strength of the institution as we envision new opportunities internally and enhanced collaborations with our greater community."
