---- — The National Weather Service predicted total daytime snowfall for Mankato to be between 3 and 7 inches Thursday with temperatures dropping throughout the day and wind picking up. The actual amount was about 4 inches.
There was a winter weather advisory in effect until noon Thursday and a wind chill advisory in effect until Friday at 9 a.m. Wind chills were expected to reach -25 Thursday evening and Friday's high was expected to be around 7 degrees with windchills as low as -23 in the Mankato area.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation rated road conditions as "difficult" for driving in all of south-central and southern Minnesota on Thursday during the day but conditions improved to "fair" by evening.
