MANKATO — The CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour will be unveiling 34 new sculptures Saturday at various locations in Mankato and North Mankato. The works were created by artists from 17 different states and three countries. Sculptures by local artists also are part of the tour.
Materials used to create the sculptures range from carved marble taken from the original Italian foundry of Leonardo da Vinci, to molded plastic bottles.
From 6-9 p.m. Saturday, the CityArt organization will be the host of a public artists’ reception at Number 4 American Bar and Kitchen. Tickets to this event cost $50 and may be purchased at: firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 388-1062.
The pieces will be exhibited year-round. The public may vote for the “People’s Choice Award” sculpture, which will be purchased by the City Center Partnership and later permanently installed in a City Center location.
Additionally, all of the sculptures will be available for purchase or lease at the end of the tour next spring.
