MANKATO — A 24-year-old Mankato man reported he was assaulted and robbed as he walked home from the downtown area Saturday night.
The man called police at about 10:30 p.m. to report he was followed by three black males in their middle 20s as he walked through an alley. When he was in the area of Second and Plum Streets, one of the men punched him in the head and knocked him to the ground.
After taking $20 from the victim, the three black men ran away, said Sgt. Justin Newmann of the Mankato Department of Public Safety. The victim couldn't say which direction the suspects ran or provide a better description of them. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries to his face.
