— The murder and kidnapping conviction of Joel Munt has been affirmed by the Minnesota Supreme Court.
Munt was convicted of killing his ex-wife Svetlana and kidnapping their three children. He rammed the vehicle they were in at Mankato's Rasmussen Park onn March 28, 2010, and then shot Svetlana to death in the car.
In September 2011 a jury found Munt guilty of all counts and rejected his mental illness defense.
Munt had argued that the district erred by declining to remove a prospective juror for cause; making allegedly improper comments to the jury; denying his request to testify in a rebuttal; determining his 9-year-old daughter was incompetent to testiy and failing to inquire about his complaints against his attorney.
The Supreme Court determined that the district court did not commit errors and affirmed that court'sdecision.
