NORTH MANKATO — A 21-building townhome complex with 96 units is planned for the Rolling Green addition in upper North Mankato.
The North Mankato City Council will decide Monday night whether to approve a plan for the development forwarded by Michael Drummer and the Rist family.
The Planning Commission unanimously approved the development Thursday evening.
While the city’s original plan for the west side of Rolling Green Lane focused on office buildings — the area is zoned as office-residential — multi-family buildings are a permitted use as well, City Planner Mike Fischer said.
This means that it would be difficult for the city to deny a developer the right to use the land for that purpose.
Fischer said city rules for parking have been met by the developer.
The project is planned to be built in phases, with the first phase including six buildings along Rolling Green Lane.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the North Mankato Municipal Building.
This story was edited to indicate that the project involves four- and six-unit townhomes, not apartment buildings.
