MANKATO — Handmade pottery and crafts from Texas and Mexico being sold here will help provide missionary work for children in Guatemala.
Mission Pottery is selling the work in a tent in the parking lot of Elevate Church on Victory Drive North, near the Belle Mar Mall.
“We did it two years ago in Rochester to support mission work on the Texas border,” said Katie Resch, one of the organizers. “This year it’s for mission work for Elevate Church with portions going to Child Outreach International for Mission work in Guatemala.”
The shop offers a unique variety of yard and garden decor, including decorative pots, planters, chimineas, statues of many sizes, wind spinners and more.
The goal is to sell all the pottery and crafts by about the end of June. The shop is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a later opening on Sundays.
An anonymous donor has also pledged to match the amount raised through the sales.
“It’s been going good so far, except for the weather,” said Resch of the first week of business.
