MANKATO — Police have found one suspect in a police car chase Sunday night that turned into a foot chase after the stolen car crashed into a tree in the 1300 block of Fifth Avenue.

The suspect is a 13-year-old boy facing juvenile charges of fleeing police in a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property, reckless driving and driving without a license.

An officer attempted to stop the car for speeding at the intersection of Third Avenue and Maxfield Street at about 11:09 p.m. Sunday. The car didn't stop and the officer learned the car had been reported stolen from North Mankato. The car chase continued for several blocks until the crash, then two boys ran from police. They were not found during a search that lasted more than an hour.

The 13-year-old driver was arrested at about 11:15 a.m. Monday, a Mankato Department of Public Safety report said. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is being asked to call police at 507-387-8780.
